Neonatology

About the Speciality
Our Neonatology unit provides consultant-led care for premature, critically ill and surgically complex newborns. Our team, consisting of neonatologists, specialist nurses, respiratory therapists and allied experts give 24/7 intensive and high-dependency support, including advanced ventilation, non-invasive respiratory support, central lines and parenteral nutrition, dialysis, neonatal transport and emergency procedures. We manage most surgical and medical neonatal conditions (excluding neonatal cardiac surgery), run structured neurodevelopmental follow-up clinics, and prioritise family-centred practices such as kangaroo mother care and lactation support. As an NNF Level 3B unit with isolation rooms, modern monitoring and dedicated infrastructure, our outcomes for very preterm infants align with international standards, while active research and education continually improve care.
