KIMSHEALTH’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery offers internationally recognised, multidisciplinary care for all musculoskeletal problems. Using minimally invasive techniques ranging from endoscopic spine surgery to robotic joint replacement, our surgeons develop a treatment plan customised for each patient by working closely with anaesthesia, rehabilitation, and other specialists. We manage complex trauma and fractures with a dedicated 24/7 trauma ICU, provide limb reconstruction (including Ilizarov techniques) and perform microsurgical reimplantation for severe limb injuries. We cover arthroscopy and sports-injury care, hand and microvascular surgery, paediatric orthopaedics and scoliosis correction, plus specialist clinics for back pain, osteoporosis and arthritis.

Wrist Fracture
A wrist fracture is a break in one or more wrist bones, commonly the distal radius. It often occurs from falls onto an outstretched hand, sports injuries, or weakened bones due to osteoporosis. Symptoms include pain, swelling, bruising, deformity, and limited movement. Diagnosis is confirmed with X-rays and, in complex cases, may require CT imaging. Early management with immobilization, physiotherapy, and protective measures helps prevent complications like malunion, stiffness, arthritis, or nerve and tendon damage.
Trigger Finger
Trigger finger is a condition in which a finger becomes stuck in a bent position due to inflammation of the flexor tendons. It commonly occurs from repetitive gripping, forceful hand movements, or underlying conditions like diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. Symptoms include stiffness, popping, clicking, and pain at the base of the finger. Diagnosis is usually clinical and may be supported by ultrasound when needed. Early care with hand rest, stretching, splinting, or corticosteroid injections can prevent permanent contracture and restore normal hand function.
Tennis Elbow and Shoulder Problems
Tennis elbow and shoulder problems are overuse injuries affecting tendons in the elbow or shoulder, including rotator cuff tendinitis. They result from repetitive motions, poor technique, or improper posture, commonly seen in sports, lifting, or computer work. Symptoms include pain, weakness, and limited arm movement. Diagnosis involves physical examination and imaging. Management focuses on proper technique, ergonomic adjustments, strengthening exercises, and physiotherapy to relieve pain, prevent chronic tendon damage, and restore function for daily and sports activities.
Tendonitis
Tendonitis is the inflammation of a tendon, often affecting the shoulders, elbows, wrists, or knees. It commonly results from overuse, repetitive motion, aging, or occupational and sports-related strain. Symptoms include localized pain, swelling, warmth, and stiffness, which can limit joint movement. Early diagnosis through physical examination and imaging helps guide treatment. Management involves rest, physiotherapy, gradual return to activity, and preventive measures to avoid chronic degeneration or tendon rupture, ensuring full recovery and improved function.

Trigger Finger Release
Trigger finger release is a surgical procedure that involves cutting the A1 pulley at the base of the finger to relieve locking or catching of the tendon. It is indicated for patients with persistent, painful finger locking that does not improve with conservative measures such as splints, medications, or steroid injections. The procedure can be performed as an open or percutaneous release under local anesthesia. Postoperative care includes early finger movement, wound care, and scar massage, allowing most patients to regain normal finger function rapidly and resume daily activities.
Toe Deformity Correction (Hammer Toe, Bunion)
Toe deformity correction surgery involves realignment of the toes or first metatarsal to correct painful deformities such as hammer toes or bunions. The procedure alleviates pain, prevents ulceration, and improves the ability to wear shoes comfortably. Surgical techniques include osteotomy, tendon release, or joint fusion depending on the severity and type of deformity. Fixation may involve wires, screws, or plates. Postoperative care includes protected weight-bearing, use of specialized footwear, physiotherapy, and a gradual return to normal activities to ensure proper healing and restore foot function.
Surgery for Severe Osteoarthritis (Joint Replacement – Hip, Knee)
Joint replacement surgery involves replacing diseased hip or knee joint surfaces with prosthetic implants to relieve pain and restore function. It is indicated for patients with severe osteoarthritis causing significant disability and unresponsive to conservative treatments. The procedure can be total or partial, using cemented or uncemented implants, and may utilize computer-assisted or robotic-assisted techniques for precision. Postoperative care includes early mobilization, structured physiotherapy, pain management, and thromboprophylaxis. Functional improvement occurs gradually over weeks to months, allowing patients to regain mobility, independence, and improved quality of life.
Strap, Cast, Band, Gym Instructions
Supportive measures such as straps, casts, bands, and guided gym programs are used to protect injured structures, stabilize joints, and facilitate safe rehabilitation. These interventions help offload stress from healing tissues, prevent reinjury, and support gradual functional recovery. Application includes taping techniques, prefabricated braces, or casts, combined with physiotherapist-guided exercise programs designed to restore strength, flexibility, and range of motion. Recovery involves wearing supportive devices as instructed, monitoring skin integrity, and progressively increasing activity levels under professional supervision to ensure safe and effective return to daily or sporting activities.
