About the Procedure
Eligibility
- Patients whose surgical or injury wounds have healed.
- Wounds with non-absorbable sutures that need removal.
- Incisions that have no signs of infection or delayed healing.
- Routine post-operative follow-up care.
- Individuals needing scar assessment and proper wound management.
Care Before the Procedure
- Ensure the wound is clean and dry.
- Inform your doctor of allergies, medications, or signs of infection.
- Avoid applying creams or ointments to the area unless prescribed.
- Follow your doctor’s instructions on when to return for removal.
Care During the Procedure
- The area is cleaned with an antiseptic.
- Sutures are cut and removed gently using sterile instruments.
- The wound may be inspected for healing, infection, or scarring.
- The procedure usually takes a few minutes and may cause slight discomfort.
Care After the Procedure
- Keep the area clean and dry.
- Apply antibiotic ointment or dressing if advised.
- Monitor for redness, swelling, or discharge; report any signs of infection.
- Resume normal activities unless otherwise instructed.
- Follow-up may be scheduled to assess healing and scar formation.
