Known symtoms
- Rough, raised bumps on the skin
- Usually painless but can be tender if irritated
- May appear singly or in clusters
- Sometimes have a black dot in the center (clotted blood vessels)
Knowns causes
- Direct contact with HPV from an infected person or surface
- Weak immune system increasing susceptibility
- Skin trauma or breaks that allow viral entry
Care
- Clinical examination by a healthcare professional
- Biopsy in rare or uncertain cases
- Avoid touching or picking at warts to prevent spread
- Topical treatments such as salicylic acid
- Cryotherapy, laser removal, or other procedures for persistent or resistant warts
- Maintain good hygiene and protect affected areas
